My analysis of the double page spread of Kerrang magazine

                               


                                                Analysis of  the double page spread of Kerrang  

The double page has three colour schemes whit, grey and black, the colour used in this double is quite neutral but powerful especially when the whole group is dressed in black from head to toe which stimulates authority.


The master head  is in the double spread is in the same, but some of the words in the master is bigger and bolder, this was done so that readers would be able to understand what part is more important and how the magazine will be structured. I From the master head i understand firstly that article would be talking about something around alcohol, then drugs and then dodgy women.


Usually in an the beginning of a sentence in a magazine there is usually one letter bigger that the sentence which referred as a drop cap , but in this  article is the word "it's|" that is drop caped which is quite unusual. The  columns  are the same width and size this is very effective because it looks very neat and not disorganize, another thing i find powerful with the columns is that they are in black and white this was done to keep the readers concentrated on what they are reading because as a reader myself I sometimes do get distracted easily  when reading articles but colour or some type of pattern keeps me interested.

The paragraph under the master head is an message promoting the band  and their success, I like the way this has been promoted, I like the ripped effect used in the paragraph because the colour used is and the fact of all the band members being dressed in black shows the audience that there a connection to the band members and also the fact that it looks ripped it tells me the audience that the piece of information has been ripped off from the band, this also contrasts with the article because everything looks simple in the black and white color where as the writing on top of it and patchy black background sticks out more.

Another thing I have seen in the column is the first column where the reader should start is on like a s small white paper background which I this was used to tell the reader that they should start reading there.
what i have gained from this double page spread that it is important top highlight the important or interesting things in you double page spread but when you want to highlight something do it discretely but also in a way that it artistic and that will grab the readers attention,  and this the reason to why  I will be applying this technic to my music magazine.
