Case study of real music magazine the analysis of the front cover magazine the billboard
The music magazine that I will be analyzing is billboard, billboard is a weekly music magazine that is actually internationally famous for record charts, only the best of the best music artist/artists make it in the magazine it is deemed to be the mother of all music magazines also as an artist you know if you really made it in the music industry you will be in the billboard magazine.
The master head is presented as a logo because t the master head is usually filled in with colours (like in a majority of their all their magazines) this is done to make the word billboard look like a trade mark so you will be able recognize the magazine from a far . Adele's head is behind the master head\logo was to show the audience that she is very important that she is too famous and successful to hide or be behind the master head.
The front cover is bright even though the colour is scheme is just black, white and red. the reason why the front cover is bright is because the type of lighting used was hard light I know this because hard light is quiet direct can cause intense in brightness and creates a strong shadow(as you can see on the front cover) this is positive because this creates contrast between the colours i.e like Adele's hair colour with her black coat, white background to the red writing.
The pull is quite provocative because it is asking the audience a question that we all know the obvious answer too because everybody who is knows or listen to music will know that she is a huge music pop star, i think this is a good tack-tick that the writer used was good because this is a way of telling the audience that if they read the article about her they will know more about her (because we all know in real life Adele is secretive).
The pull does relate to the photo of Adele because she is is hiding in the coat as if she is trying to go undercover to hide who she is(a fabulous pop star) I know this links in the pull because the pull is asking the audience if they know who this person is as if she getting away with hiding. This also links in with the subheading under the name Adele is selling the success of Adele to the public. The part "NOW SHE'S EYEING THE U.S.A." especially links to the photo of Adele because she is standing side ways to the left and look at in front this suggests that she is eyeing something up as well as addressing the audience, which is very smart.Overall I think that the front cover is neatly presented due to the very neat and simple layout and the dramatic lighting makes it look eye catching but mature I know this because the lighting wasn't just pointed any random place but on the pop star herself, i think everything was nicely centered the way it was done all the information and additional information about Adele was in the middle of the cover other than that other information were place on the right or left hand side of the cover.
The type of audience I think that this cover will attract is those who live and breath in music and for those who are prestige and has a strong economic back ground I know this because not only is it famous for those within the music industry but because the price is quite more expensive than an normal magazine
The audience and institution
This a diagram of Billboard's magazine media pack as you can see the magazine mostly promotes music charts, as I have previously mentioned.
An excellent, detailed analysis Corine in which you have thoroughly considered genre, layout, image and representation of the artist. Show how it helps you with your own ideas. You haven't picked the appropriate part of the press pack- I'd like to see more detail of the audience and there is nothing about the publisher. Vanessa
ReplyDeleteStill, this does not help us describe the audience in terms of age, gender, occupation etc. And the publisher? VC
