The analysis of the front cover of Kerrang magazine and the media kit
I will be analyzing the front cover of Kerrang magazine. Kerrang magazines is about the latest music in rock and the best rock artists in all time.
The front cover of the magazine appears to be be very messy, I think this was done to portray to the audience that rock is messy and scary, in honest truth when you think about a rock music video or concert you have a messy idea of things being trashed, broken and misplaced, so this fits the purpose of the magazine. What also fits the purpose of the magazine is the universal logo Kerrang because, as you can see the on front cover the font of the word "Kerrang" is quite violent and extreme this also fits the purpose.
The background of the magazine very fiery(it is like a explosion of spark happened)which suggeststo the target audience is for immature people wit a not so strong economic background, I understand this because if I was to compare the front cover to the one of, Billboard's magazine they take more care in their photo shoots for the artist/artists you can tell because the take the lighting in consideration and also uses expensive cameras whereas in Kerrang the pictures/images look very rough(like it the pictures have been copied, pasted or the pictures has been taken on a cheap digital camera) it also looks like they did not take any consideration for anything but this is how the audience will understand he rock and roll behavior meaning this s fit the purposeoutlook of the magazine,I also find the front cover of Kerrang to be less glamorous than magazines such as Q and Billboard magazines (etc) which are also weekly magazine.
The prof that the target audience for Kerrang is young and immature. I think Kerrang lacks professionalism compared to Billboard magazine, because in Billboard magazine they make sure the photos are 100% perfect but in the cover i have spotted an imperfection.
If you look closer to the front cover you see an artist who has an injury in his nail, Kerrang has obviously done this on purpose and to the reason why I think this was done was because the magazine probably wanted to come across to the audience as crazy and hectic, this is actually smart because it matches the rock and roll outlook of the whole magazine and I think this is how the editors want Kerrang magazine to be perceived to the word.
This is the media pack of Kerrang as you see from the statistic 404,000 of people read the magazine and the mean age of those people who read the magazine is 22 years. As you can see it has been read by a large some of people but the one thing that really did shock me was the mean age because I expected the age to maybe be a little bit lower like 18 or 19, because of the whole disorginzed of the magazine.

Another strong, detailed case study and you have considered how the different genre influences the style of the magazine. How does it help you with your own ideas? Stronger on the press pack but you need an account of the publisher. Vanessa
