Analysis of billboard magazine contents page

The case study of real magazines analysis of the content page of the Billboard

I will be making a analysis of the contents page in billboard magazine.

My dislikes, what I really don't like about the contents page is that there is too much information on the contents page it is over the top, the reason to why I feel like this is because the first time I took a glimpse of the contents page I did not want to read my first thought was "boring" another factor to this is the boring black, white and blue colour scheme there is not life to contents page. What I would of done is use bright/ fun colours so this will attract the readers and their first thought will be "the information written here and the whole magazine is going to be interesting/fun", the reason to why  I think this should be done is because the contents page meet the same purpose of the front cover, this gives the reader a deeper insight to what the inside of the magazine will be like. the over view if the magazine from the colour scheme to the font is pretty boring, there is no life to the contents page no fun or excitement it isn't even mouth watering, the colour scheme used was okay but I think it wasn't used effectively or creatively, what I would of done with the 3 colour scheme was make the background blue, make the writing  in the number 1 chart black and make the actual                        contents page writing white, this will make the contents page look more interesting.

The main and obvious feature is the billboard number 1 music chart. The reason why this feature was on the contents page was to show the audience that as a music magazine they know what is in and what is not meaning they know what they are talking about in the magazine, this also a way to showing off to the readers that the billboard magazine is so prestige that it has its own music chart.

The reason to why i think the colour scheme used in the magazine was used in this way was because they wanted the contents page to look very simple but the problem is it is too simple ad this can discourage the readers from reading the rest of the magazine, what I am learning is that the colour scheme of a magazine is very important because this fixes not only the mood of the reader but is the overview of the magazine.

What I really liked about the contents page was the content of the writing, like there was alot of teasers which makes the readers excited because it provokes the reader on wanting to know what will happen or what will be happening.

The sub-heading used in the contents page is quick, short, clear and snappy, meaning readers aren't wasting their  time reading unnecessary information, I think this was done to make the readers not feel as if the written information is long but using their method will grab the readers attention and this will help the reader not to lose attention while reading the contents page

  1. Quite brief. You state there is advertising- there isn't! You could have looked at the way they cross promote their events and online activity. You haven't analysed the images.
